Lovely Organization
Oh Valentine’s Day, what a
sweet holiday. I am a fan. Call me a romantic sap, but I totally
understand when clients hold on to receipts and matchbooks,
love letters, cards, and small trinkets that remind them of someone special.

So, I love (pun intended)
helping clients figure out how to best store and organize their mementos, while
setting some ground rules for what to keep. This week I am sharing those tips
with you.

- Special things deserve special boxes that can be
displayed for easy reminiscing. Here are a few of my favorites.

- Organize your mementos by year or create boxes for
the special people in your life, like your children.
- Date cards or letters, and write notes and dates on
matchbooks and other mementos to make them easy to organize. The notes will
also make them more meaningful as the years pass.
- Tie a pretty ribbon around batches of cards to keep
them organized by type: Valentine’s Day, birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, or even by
sender.
- Set aside a specific place in your home, whether a
shelf or a drawer to store these items. Once the bin that fits in that space is
full, it’s time to review and purge. You shouldn’t keep everything you receive,
only a few of the most meaningful things each year.
How do you organize the
meaningful mementos you save? I’d love to hear from you about your organizing
strategies.
