For A Good Cause: The Lord’s Place

As you’re probably in the process of ridding your home of anything that doesn’t spark joy, now is the time to be smart about where you take those donations.

Full Disclosure: All these shoes are actually sparking some joy for me.

One worthy charity in our area is The Lord’s Place, an organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness through supportive housing, job training and more.

You can drop donations at their Joshua House Thrift Store at 7600 South Dixie Highway Monday to Friday from 10am to 6pm and Saturdays from 10am to 5pm. Or visit their website to schedule a donation pick-up.

Proceeds from store sales directly support the programs and services of The Lord’s Place. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for formerly homeless clients to complete customer service work experience training in a retail setting. It also helps clients, as they are given vouchers to “purchase” clothing, furniture and other essential items at no cost.

For many, the hardest part to getting organized is making tough decisions about what to keep and what to let go. To get over this, focus on giving back and a sense of gratitude. You have so much and others have so little.

Ask yourself: Could someone else use or love this item?
